StudyHaven Privacy Policy

Hi there! I'm the sole creator of StudyHaven, and I take your privacy seriously. This policy outlines how I collect, use, and protect your data when you use StudyHaven.

Data I Collect

• Umami (Web Analytics): I use Umami, a privacy-friendly analytics tool, to understand how StudyHaven is used. This helps me improve the platform for everyone. I collect data on things like:
  • The tests, worksheets, and questions you create
  • Your general activity on the website (which pages you visit, how long you stay, etc.)
  • Your approximate location (based on IP address)
  • The type of device and browser you use
• Vercel (Hosting): StudyHaven is hosted on Vercel, which may collect some data as part of their service. However, I don't use Vercel's analytics features myself.
• Supabase (Storage & Authentication): Your account information (email, username, and a securely hashed password) is stored on Supabase.
• FormBricks (Feedback): StudyHaven uses FormBricks for general surveys. You will come across random surveys as you use the website asking for feedback. FormBricks only collects user meta data i.e. the type of device you use, the browser you use, your general ip-based location.
• Discord OAuth: If you sign up using Discord, I'll have access to your email, username, banner, and avatar. I follow Discord's terms of service for how I can use this data.

How I Use Your Data

• Understanding Usage Patterns: Analytics show me how StudyHaven is being used, which features are popular, and which areas might need improvement.
• Measuring Success: I can see how often people are creating tests, worksheets, and questions, which tells me if the platform is meeting your needs.
• Planning New Features: By understanding how StudyHaven is being used, I can come up with new ideas and features that will actually benefit you.
• Global Reach: Knowing where users are located helps me understand StudyHaven's impact and tailor features to different regions in the future.

Protecting Your Data

• Encryption: I use strong encryption to protect sensitive data (like passwords).
• Limited Access: Only I have access to the data stored on Supabase.
• Security Checks: I regularly review StudyHaven's security to make sure everything is safe and sound.

What data is public

• Discord Username and Avatar:Your discord account username and avatar will be public. Your username and avatar will only be visible if you post, comment or star a resource post.
• Resource Post Files:The files you upload to StudyHaven are made public. This means anyone can access these files as long as they have the link. Your files are stored on a private server. When you upload a file while creating a resource but choose to delete the file later, your file will be removed from the private server. In the case that your file fails to be deleted from the server, a cron job runs on the server that checks for unused files every day and deletes them; so you need not worry.

I don't sell, share, or misuse your data. I'm committed to keeping your information safe and only using it for the purposes mentioned here.
